Two new 25-foot patrol boats that will replace two aging boats in the Ventura County Harbor Patrol’s fleet of four were unveiled today, marking a significant investment in safety, efficiency, and capabilities of operations.
Ventura County Harbor Department Director Michael Tripp said the new patrol boats will play a vital role in helping the Ventura County Harbor Patrol serve the community, protect the Channel Islands Harbor and coastline, and ensure the safety of all who enjoy Ventura County’s waterways.
“Our patrols will potentially be faster, safer, and better equipped, which ultimately benefits everyone who uses our harbor, whether for recreation, business, or emergency response,” Director Tripp said.
Director Tripp said the two boats that will be replaced were purchased in 1997 and 2002.
Here are a few key features of the new boats:
Latest Technology: Equipped with cutting-edge navigational and communication systems, the new boats enable quicker response times and better situational awareness. These advancements allow harbor patrol to monitor conditions more effectively and act swiftly in emergencies.
Improved Lighting: Enhanced lighting systems significantly boost visibility during nighttime operations and low-light conditions, improving safety for both patrol and the public.
Custom Storage Solutions: Custom-designed storage ensures that life-saving emergency equipment and operational gear are secure, accessible, and well-maintained. This not only speeds up response during critical situations but also ensures all equipment remains in top condition and ready for deployment at a moment’s notice.
Ergonomics and Comfort: Designed with patrol officers’ well-being in mind, the new boats are equipped with ergonomic seating, glass windshields, and built-in heaters. These features ensure maximum comfort and protection for patrol officers during extended hours on the water, regardless of weather conditions.
The new boats will enhance patrol capabilities significantly. From increased speed and agility to more efficient emergency response, the boats will support faster, safer, and more effective operations across the harbor and coastline. This investment benefits everyone who relies on Ventura County’s waterways, whether for recreation, business, or emergency services.
