December 2025 Director’s Message
As we welcome the holiday season at Channel Islands Harbor, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Ventura County Harbor Department employees, our community, partners, and visitors who make this waterfront such a fun place year-round. December is always a special month here, and this year is no exception.
We begin the month with the 6el Colecta anual de alimentos y juguetes para las fiestas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. This important event is a collaborative effort between the Harbor Department and the Harbor & Beach Community Alliance. Each year, our community’s generosity shines, helping support families across Ventura County during the holiday season.
On December 13, we continue holiday festivities with the Reindeer Paddle, a new event created to celebrate the 60th Anniversary at the Harbor. Kayakers and paddleboarders are encouraged to dress festively and enjoy a spirited cruise through our waterways. Participants who dress festively will have a chance to win prizes from Harbor Mart, Island Packers, and Sea Fresh Chanel Islands! We’re excited to grow this into an annual tradition that reflects the fun and welcoming spirit of the Harbor.
Then, later that day at 7 p.m., the Harbor will sparkle for the 59th Annual Parade of Lights. This beloved tradition returns with brilliantly decorated boats and plenty of landside cheer. The accompanying Parade of Lights Holiday Market, held from noon to 7 p.m., will be bigger and more festive than ever, featuring free photos with Santa and an expanded snow play area. Unlike previous years, when the snow was a single mound, this year’s attraction includes a full play zone and a sledding area that can accommodate up to four sledders at once, creating a more dynamic and memorable experience for families.
Thank you for being part of the Harbor community and for helping make these celebrations meaningful. I wish you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you at the Harbor throughout December.
