2025 Chowderfest at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum

Crowds mill at the annual Chowderfest

The wait is over! The 6th Annual Chowderfest returns this Sunday, September 14th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum!

Chowderfest brings together an exciting lineup of restaurants ready to serve their best chowders, sides and culinary creativity! This year’s featured participants include:

  • The Strand Bar and Grill
  • Fisherman’s Catch
  • Ox & Ocean at the Zachari Dunes
  • Smokin’ Steve’s BBQ
  • Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine
  • Brophy Bros Ventura
  • Rescue Mission Alliance of Ventura County
  • Sea Fresh Channel Islands
  • Gunsmoke BBQ & Beer
  • Portola Italian Kitchen
  • Duke’s Beach Grill
  • Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club
  • Magnavino Cellars

These local favorites will compete for the coveted People’s Choice Award and Team Spirit honors decided by event attendees as well as the title of best chowder and most unique chowder decided by a panel of judges. Winners will be announced on stage at 5 p.m.

Event highlights include chowder tastings, live music by the Ray Jaurique Trio, museum tours, harbor cruises with Fish with the Finest, cool ocean breezes and tons of coastal vibes. Wine, beer and soft drinks will also be available for purchase.

Guests are invited to enjoy a day of flavor, fun and community while supporting the Maritime Museum. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 the day of the event. Proceeds benefit the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving maritime history through exhibitions, community events and educational programs.

About the Channel Islands Maritime Museum:

The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is a hidden gem located in Channel Islands Harbor, showcasing a world-class collection of maritime art, ship models, and artifacts. The museum’s extensive collection includes dramatic 17th-century Dutch seascapes, 19th-century English Romantic works, and contemporary American maritime paintings, as well as exquisite ship models like those of Edward Marple and the largest bone-model collection in the Western United States, crafted by French prisoners during the Napoleonic Wars.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the museum on their own or with a museum guide at no extra charge. The museum is located at 3900 Bluefin Circle, Oxnard, CA, and is open Thursday through Monday from 12 PM to 4 PM (closed Tuesday & Wednesday). Admission is $10 for Adults, $5 Seniors & Active Military and Kids (18 & under) are free. With stunning harbor views, speaker series, community events and a constantly rotating lineup of exhibits, there is always something new to discover at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum.
