Virtual Community Meeting Scheduled for Channel Islands Harbor Dredging Project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), in coordination with the County of Ventura, will host a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, October 21, at 6 p.m. to discuss upcoming maintenance dredging at Channel Islands Harbor.
Dredging operations are expected to begin in November 2026 and continue through the end of February 2027. Equipment staging will begin in October, so residents and visitors may notice increased activity around the harbor as crews prepare for the work.
The project will be conducted by Manson Construction, the Corps’ contractor, and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Dredged material will be transported approximately one mile south and placed along Hueneme Beach, helping provide shoreline protection to downcoast beaches while maintaining navigable waterways within the harbor.
The meeting will give community members an opportunity to learn more about the project schedule, operations and what to expect during the coming months, as well as ask questions directly of Corps representatives.
